Private AI Prompt Manager

The short version: PromptVault stores your prompts locally on your device, encrypted with your password. We have no servers. We collect no personal data. Your prompts never leave your browser.

This Privacy Policy describes how PromptVault ("the extension", "we", "our") handles information when you use our Chrome extension. Effective date: March 28, 2026.

1. Information We Collect

PromptVault collects no personal information. Specifically, we do not collect your name, email address, IP address, location, or any other identifying data.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

All vault data is stored locally in your browser using the chrome.storage.local API. This includes:

Prompt contents — titles, body text, categories, tags, pinned status, creation timestamps, and usage counts
App state — whether you have completed the onboarding flow

All prompt data is encrypted with AES-256 before being written to storage. Your password is used to perform this encryption and is never stored anywhere — not on your device, not on any server. If you forget your password, your vault data cannot be recovered.

Uninstalling the extension permanently deletes all locally stored data.

3. Export and Import

You may export your vault as a JSON file for backup purposes. This file is saved to your device and is only shared if you choose to share it. We have no access to exported files.

4. External Services

PromptVault uses ExtensionPay (by Llama Life LLC), a third-party payment processor, solely to verify whether you have an active Pro subscription. When the extension checks your subscription status, it communicates with ExtensionPay's servers. Payment processing is handled by Stripe through ExtensionPay's backend.

We do not receive or store any payment information. ExtensionPay's privacy policy is available at extensionpay.com/privacy.

No other external services, analytics platforms, or tracking tools are used.

5. Permissions

PromptVault requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage — to save your encrypted vault locally
activeTab — to detect which AI platform you are currently viewing
scripting — to send your prompt text into the AI platform's input field

The extension also requests access to the following websites: chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, and grok.com. This access is used exclusively to inject your chosen prompt into the AI's text input. The extension does not read, record, or transmit any content from these pages.

6. No Analytics or Telemetry

We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any other analytics or error-reporting service. No usage data, crash reports, or behavioral metrics are sent anywhere.

7. Children's Privacy

PromptVault does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children. All data remains on your device and is never transmitted to us.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the extension after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
